Weoley Hill Church
Community Church Commercial Kitchen Design
David Marlow the church caretaker for Weoley Hill Church based in Birmingham contacted Hopkins, regarding a complete commercial kitchen refurbishment for the church. The old kitchen was tired and in drastic need of modernisation to meet the needs of a busy church with a full events diary including holding meetings for the Scouts, Slimming World and even Tia Chi classes alongside church services.
Skip Appleyard our projects manager attended site to complete a site survey. There was limited space available within the kitchen area to meet the needs of the many groups that where to use the kitchen. Skip designed the kitchen layout to suit the needs of production; the church was hosting various different religious functions, and had numerous different religious groups running from the church.
A complete redesign was needed. Hopkins project managed the new commercial kitchen from concept to completion. The old kitchen was completely ripped out and sub-contractors where contracted to fit new wall cladding, floors and ventilation. In addition the electrics within the kitchen where completely re fit to meet modern commercial kitchen requirements. Doors where removed and two new serving hatches where installed. Separate lockable cupboards where including in the design to meet the needs of the different groups.
The commercial kitchen consisted of, under counter & upright refrigeration, under counter dishwasher, water boilers, heavy duty cooking equipment such as boiling tops, ovens. Numerous amounts of fabrication such as stainless steel tabling, double bowl sink unit, shelving, wall cladding and dishwash tabling.
The new commercial kitchen has a greatly improved flow enabling the many uses of the kitchen to work together smoothly.
