Which Commercial Microwave

Share |

Commercial Microwave OvenVirtually every kind of commercial kitchen uses a microwave oven from using the microwave to heat up sauces to cooking entire meals.

Commercial microwave ovens are designed for prolonged use and come in a variety of duty’s depending on how much use the microwave will get. Light duty models are designed for catering establishments that only heat small amounts of food a day while extra heavy duty models are designed for continuous use without dropping their power levels.

The capacity and power levels available are what separate the commercial microwave oven from the domestic models. Hopkins catering equipment supplies commercial microwaves with capacities from 17.9 to a massive 44 litres.  All the microwaves on our site list the capacity and internal dimensions to ensure you can make the best choice for your kitchen.

Commercial microwaves have dual magnetrons which make them more efficient, longer lasting and most importantly ensure they don’t lose power over continued use. (Domestic microwaves lose power over continued use with obvious health and safety implications). Light duty microwaves start at 1000 watts while our most powerful microwave is the Panasonic NE3280. The NE3280 can steam food from the inside with the water in the food itself using 3200 watts of power.

Sharp offer a unique cavity protection system (CPS) on models of their commercial microwaves which extends the life of the microwave. The system protects the cavity from damage and food build up helping to avoid costly repairs and downtime. Models with the system have CPS within their product title and are listed in our comparison sheet.

Take a look at our comparison sheet for a quick reference guide to the differences between the commercial microwaves in our catering equipment shop.
